How Saba's Mediterranean Kitchen Received $134,000 in Employee Retention Tax Credits from the IRS

Saba's is a family owned and operated restaurant, which has been serving the Phoenix valley since 1995. They have a blend of various cultures including Greek, Lebanese, Israeli, Iraqi ... and even Italian and American Fusion.

Located in: Phoenix AZ

ERTC Credit received from the IRS: $134,000

Saba's Scenario:

Saba's had some restrictions during the 2020 lockdown in Phoenix (like all Phoenix area restaurants).

Though they actually ended up making more money in 2020 than in 2019!

Quote from owner George Shankool:

The process was really easy. And it's amazing that we can get payroll tax back, with the ERTC program, even after having a great 2020 (in spite of the pandemic)

About ERTC for Saba's:

We orginally thought we could not get them any ERTC money, because they did well in 2020. We're glad, for their sake, that we looked deeper into it for them. Because of the lockdown restrictions they were able to get a great chunk of money.

They received their money, via Treasury check, in April 2022.

Note: Basically any business with 2+ W-2 employees, that had any restrictions from COVID, should be able to claim some ERTC money.

Plans for the ERTC Money:

George says "we plan to do a lot of great improvements to the restaurant. Some things we had been putting off."
